The breast care pathway is realized through the Network of Breast Centers in Lazio.

The network of Breast Centers carries out diagnostic and therapeutic activities. It also deals with the psychophysical rehabilitation of women with breast cancer, ensuring them the best possible care.

These centers have a multidisciplinary approach, with various specializations involved, including:

• radiology,

• pathological anatomy,

• medical oncology,

• breast surgery,

• radiotherapy,

• nuclear medicine,

• physiotherapy and rehabilitation,

• oncological medical genetics,

• psycho-oncology. 

This ensures the best outcome in terms of survival and quality of life.

The multidisciplinary organization and the experience accumulated from the high volumes of activity of the centers involved in the network guarantee the best outcome in terms of survival and quality of life.

Each clinical case is discussed by the various professionals on the team, who together develop the most appropriate diagnostic-therapeutic strategy.

The pathway is organized in each Local Health Authority (Asl) and involves the connection between the different services: screening centers, clinical diagnostic facilities, and Breast Centers.

Women aged 50-74 can access the screening programs  for free, where they can undergo screening mammography and any necessary follow-up examinations and treatments.

Women aged 45-49 can undergo mammography for free at clinical diagnostic centers, with a prescription from their family doctor.
